Diese Arbeiten waren Februar bzw. August 1970 abgeschlossen

Temperaturmessungen in Osnabrück 1954 - 1983 : mit 7 Tabellen

In Osnabrück wird seit 1870 der Klimadienst wahrgenommen. Dieses erfolgt an verschiedenen Punkten im Stadtgebiet, z. B. in Düstrup, Haste, Gertrudenberg, Netter Heide usw. Seit Dezember 1953 befindet sich die Klimastation (Wetterstation) auf dem Ziegenbrink am Südrand der Stadt Osnabrück

Some shocking aspects of EMU enlargement

This paper uses a structural vector autoregression to examine differences in demand and supply shocks and the response to these shocks between EMU member countries and three other groups of countries. The first group includes non-EMU EU countries, the second group EFTA countries and the third group central and eastern European countries which seek EU membership over the next years. Our results suggest that, so far, EMU enlargement towards central and eastern European countries would involve significantly higher costs than EMU enlargement towards countries of the other two groups. --European Monetary Integration,International Monetary Arrangements and Institutions

Non Thermal Equilibrium States of Closed Bipartite Systems

We investigate a two-level system in resonant contact with a larger environment. The environment typically is in a canonical state with a given temperature initially. Depending on the precise spectral structure of the environment and the type of coupling between both systems, the smaller part may relax to a canonical state with the same temperature as the environment (i.e. thermal relaxation) or to some other quasi equilibrium state (non thermal relaxation). The type of the (quasi) equilibrium state can be related to the distribution of certain properties of the energy eigenvectors of the total system. We examine these distributions for several abstract and concrete (spin environment) Hamiltonian systems, the significant aspect of these distributions can be related to the relative strength of local and interaction parts of the Hamiltonian.Comment: RevTeX, 8 pages, 13 figure

Structure of the ATP-Synthase from Chloroplasts and Mitochondria Studied by Electron Microscopy

The structure of the ATP-synthase, F0F1 , from spinach chloroplasts and beef heart mitochondria has been investigated by electron microscopy with negatively stained specimens. The detergent-solubilized ATP-synthase forms string-like structures in which the F0 parts are aggregated. In most cases, the F, parts are arranged at alternating sides along the string. The F0 part has an approximate cylindrical shape with heights of 8.3 and 8.9 nm and diameters of 6.2 and 6.4 nm for the chloroplast and mitochondrial enzyme, respectively. The F, parts are disk-like structures with a diameter of about 11.5 nm and a height of about 8.5 nm. The F, parts are attached to the strings, composed of Fn parts, in most cases, with their smallest dimension parallel to the strings. The stalk connecting F0 and F, has a length of 3.7 nm and 4.3 nm and a diameter of 2.7 nm and 4.3 nm for the chloroplast and mitochondrial enzyme, respectively

Oekologischer Ackerbauversuch Gladbacherhof - Effekte von Fruchtfolge und Bodenbearbeitung in der ersten Rotation

In a long term trial at the University of Giessen three organic crop rotation systems with and without livestock and four soil tillage treatments (deep plough, 2 x two layer plough and cultivator/rotary harrow) are investigated since 1998. Compared to the other two rotations the stockless rotation without annual green manure showed lower cash crop yields, a negative N-balance and rising weed coverage. The highest cash crop yields were mostly achieved with deep ploughing. Two layer tillage caused N and C accumulation in the upper soil layer (0-15 cm). The weed coverage was highest in these treatments. Especially exclusive tillage with cultivator/rotary harrow resulted in a distinct increase of thistles and high coverage with annual weeds

Sie hatte ihren Standort am Sommerhaus des damaligen Obergerichtsrats JOHANN-VOLLRATH KETTLER,Osnabrück, Ziegelstraße 7. KETTLER hat 1872 im 1. Jahresbericht des . Naturwissenschaftlichen Vereins über die "Entstehung, Einrichtung und die ersten Ergebnisse" berichtet. Dieser Bericht ist hier wiedergegeben, legt er uns dar, daß alle Messungen exakt und gewissenhaft durchgeführt wurden

Scheduling with unexpected machine breakdowns

AbstractWe investigate an online version of a basic scheduling problem where a set of jobs has to be scheduled on a number of identical machines so as to minimize the makespan. The job processing times are known in advance and preemption of jobs is allowed. Machines are non-continuously available, i.e., they can break down and recover at arbitrary time instances not known in advance. New machines may be added as well. Thus machine availabilities change online. We first show that no online algorithm can construct optimal schedules. We also show that no online algorithm can achieve a bounded competitive ratio if there may be time intervals where no machine is available. Then we present an online algorithm that constructs schedules with an optimal makespan of CmaxOPT if a lookahead of one is given, i.e., the algorithm always knows the next point in time when the set of available machines changes. Finally, we give an online algorithm without lookahead that constructs schedules with a nearly optimal makespan of CmaxOPT+ε, for any ε>0, if at any time at least one machine is available. Our results demonstrate that not knowing machine availabilities in advance is of little harm
